Celebrating God's Faithfulness - 175th Anniversary

  • 436 North Road Ormond, VIC, 3204 Australia (map)

This year is the 175th anniversary of the founding of St Mark’s, starting humbly on 1st February 1850 with the small stone building named St John’s the Less, which acted as both school room and church. That building still stands but on land owned by a large aged care home run by Vasey RSL Care. The building is now called The Chapel of St Mark and is still used as a church.  At 10.30am each Wednesday it is open for a Communion service that is attended by members of the community and some residents of Vasey.

This 175th anniversary will be marked during the usual Sunday services at Ormond Anglican Church on 27th April 2025. That is the closest Sunday to St Mark’s Day 25th April, which of course is also ANZAC Day.

The services are:

  • 8.30am – Holy Communion, a traditional service with hymns accompanied by the organ, followed by morning tea.

  • 10am – Holy Communion that day.  A family-friendly all ages, less formal service with music provided by a band, followed by morning tea.

  • 6pm – Holy Communion that day.  A youth-oriented service with songs accompanied by a band.

You are warmly welcome to attend the service of your choice to mark the very significant milestone of 175 years in the life of the Ormond/St Mark’s parish. We would love to see you at a service.
