Playtime dates are at the bottom of the page.
Do you feel too busy to play with your child?
Are you looking for a community of friends in the same life stage?
Do you want to get out of the house to a place your child can explore and not bother unsympathetic adults?!
Playtime is a playgroup for children aged 0-5 and their parents. We aim to provide a safe, fun, caring, interesting, inclusive & English-speaking play experience for local children and their parents, regardless of their faith or cultural background. We aim to provide an opportunity for parents to find joy in their role as parents as they play and bond with their children; and opportunity for parents to share the parenting journey and build meaningful relationships.
Playtime runs most weeks of the school term on Wednesday mornings from 9.15am. We are blessed to have wonderful facilities at Ormond Anglican Church, including a big hall for burning energy, a separate room for quieter play, highchairs and a change table, and of course tea & coffee for the parents!
A small team of volunteers co-ordinate the running of Playtime, providing the set up and program. All families are asked to contribute by bringing fruit to share each week, helping pack-up toys and morning tea and contributing to our lunches once a term.
What does a typical week at Playtime look like?
9.15am Free Play: A variety of toys, activities and books are available.
10.30am Morning Tea: After together packing away the activities, the children sit down for morning tea together. Each child gets a plate of sliced fruit and crackers.
10.45am Story & Songs: We read a short bible story then sing songs and rhymes, before a big cuddle with our kids!
11.00am Farewell: The main part of Playtime comes to an end.
Extra friendship time from 11am:
On the last Playtimes of each term, you are invited to stay for lunch. All families are requested to bring something to share.
On most other weeks after Playtime, parents are invited to a time devoted to us as parents from 11am – 12 noon. Volunteers care for our children and provide them with sandwiches for lunch. We parents get together to encounter Jesus in the Bible, learn to love him more, and support one another in our faith. No matter what your background or beliefs, you are welcome to join us if you’d like to explore who Jesus is.
